چکیده

Ti implants are highly biocompatible and allow orderly bone growth but, unfortunately, in the first five years after implantation, 5–10% of them fail due to poor osseointegration presence bacterial infections prosthesis. Silver nanoparticles have been described damage cell via prolonged release Ag+ ions as a mode action when immobilized on surface. In this work, two routes synthetize silver proposed including, one hand, NaBH4-reduction and, other citrate-reduction combined with stabilized biodegradable polymer. The deposition these nanomaterials porous substrates previously fabricated using space-holder technique (40 vol% size distributions, 100–200 355–500 μm) was investigated aim for best match. Before accomplished by immersion, silanization treatment substrate surface carried out. After were deposited substrates, microstructural characteristics antibacterial behavior evaluated against proliferation Staphylococcus aureus AgNPs functionalized substrates. Finally, preliminary qualitative analysis showed inhibitory halos, being more relevant larger pores.

Deposition of silver nanoparticles on titanium surface for antibacterial effect

Microbial colonization on implanted devices and biofilm formation is a recurrent complication in implant surgery and may result in loss of implants. The aim of this study was to deposit silver nanoparticles on a titanium surface to obtain antibacterial properties. In the present study, we prepared a silver nanoparticle-modified titanium (Ti-nAg) surface using silanization method. The morphology...
